Mindstorms - Lego Programming

I will attempt to define coolness using a mathematical equation:

add [one kid]
plus [some Lego blocks]
plus [microsoft .net]
plus [infrared data transfer/USB cable]
-----------------------------------------------------------------
equals [coolest kid on the block]

Apparantly you can apply your programming skills while you are playing with your lego building blocks (or is it the other way around?)
