Photo Slimming HP Cameras

The digital cameras we purchase do not necessarily need to reflect our personal goals, short term or long, that we strive to attain every day, intentionally or accidentally. However, they should absolutely not counter our goals as we present the HP Photosmart cameras!, cameras that allow us to slim down our moderately photogenic selves. Why would I want to picture myself skinny when I am trying to gain weight? Photos that flatter, no way. Photos that fatter, sign me up (j/k). Even if the camera does fatten the photos, I would not purchase it.

Digital manipulation of photos has been around for a long time. Even though the photos of famous celebrities, with their "perceived" perfect looks, are worked on by digital retouchers, that doesn't mean that our everyday photos should receive the same treatment (although it does even the playing field). Sometimes wanting to look off the hizzy requires hard work at the gym and watching what we eat and that is part of a healthy lifestyle. Wanting to look good but getting technology to help out is just like using a sudoku solver software program to solve a sudoku puzzle.

Weird Bird Video

This video was featured on the Yahoo website but I thought I'd post the link here: Weird bird video

It is unimaginable on how the weight of all those birds was enough to pull the two trees apart. Don't those birds realize that they can't all land on the same tree at the same time. Perhaps birds are really bird brained. However, one study seems to think that 75% of bird brains work like human brains. Sometimes it seems that the reverse is true as well. The next time you are at the airport, as they annouce the boarding call for your flight, you may think of this video if there is a mad rush among passengers who jam the gate area to board the plane.

Funny Fanta Commercials in Japan

Today was a sunny hot day (with a high of 35 degrees celsius). We had our annual summer company event today, which took form in everybody getting together for a barbeque and watching a live baseball game. Even though we sat in the shade, there was no escaping from the lack of a cooling breeze to cool us down. I scarfed down 2 hot dogs, 2 servings of potato salad, 2 bbq ribs and 2 glasses of refreshing water while reminiscing about those Fanta soft drink commercials in Japan.

Just in case you are wondering, in the Fanta commercial compilation, below is list of teachers in the following chronological order:

* the rocker teacher (class A)
* the dragon teacher (class C)
* the sales teacher (class D)
* the DJ teacher (class F)
* the shogan teacher (class G)
* the romantic novel teacher (class H)
* the gangster teacher (class J)
* the bearded teacher (class S)
* the principal (last day of school before summer break)

(For this post, I have to give credit to the best poker player in the world: Lionel Lee)

Here is another funny Fanta commercial.

Diet Coke and Mentos

ok... I know that this topic is at least a month late but Vancouver's weekend forecast is going to be a scorcher according to Environment Canada. So for those of you who will be enjoying a beverage and a light snack, be careful of the DCM combination (Diet Coke and Mentos).

First... quickly read this news article that provides the background.

then watch this featured video (mad props to these prioneers of artistic direction)

- A Golf Ad Michelle Wie (hilarious!)

- A Basketball Ad Michael Jordan (one of my all-time favourites!)

- A Soccer Ad All-stars vs Monsters (what an epic!)

- Another Soccer Ad All-stars vs Ninjas (exciting! like a summer block-buster!)

Bank of Canada leaves rate unchanged

Today Bank of Canada leaves the interest rate unchanged at 4.25%. Here is the link:
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20060711/interest_hike_060711/20060711

You must be thinking wow.... a story with such a level of "interest" made it to this blog?

Well... yes but only because it is a segue to this:

http://www0.gsb.columbia.edu/everybreath/

A "Every Breath You Take" re-make. Pretty interesting.

It is a moderately old link (came out shortly after they found a replacement for Alan Greenspan). Dean Glenn Hubbard of Columbia Business School (CBS apparantly) was on the shortlist but later did not get the job so students from his faculty made this video.

I originally thought it was Dean Hubbard in the video but later it turns out to be a lookalike.

Best Ads on TV Awards (2006)

Hello World!

Hello World! this is my first blog entry. I don't know what possessed me to finally get a blog at this day and age but here it is.

Ta-da!

After spending almost an hour on trying to figure out what to name my blog, I finally decide on dbNotes. If we were to take a closer look at the name dbnotes, we notice it is an acronym for

Delicious and
Bodacious
New or
Old
Thinking
wEblinkS

or whatever.

The goal of this blog simple: to keep track of the websites / news articles I've come across that I find interesting. Sometimes when I come across an interesting website or article, I push them out to people via email. With this blog, perhaps I can reverse the polarity and pull them in like an object travelling towards a Neutron Star.

Anyways, hope you enjoy my blog. Don't post any comments that remind me how boring this blog's template design looks. I choose to keep it plain and simple silly.
