ok.. maybe you weren't thinking what I was thinking but I'll answer the question anyways... apparently it is the first musical instrument that can be played WITHOUT being touched. I would give this musical instrument the award of "Most Futuristic-looking Musical Instrument Ever Invented". It looks like something Lieutenant Commander Data would play in his spare time on the USS Enterprise (both on the NCC-1701-D and NCC-1701-E but not on the CVN-65).

Anyways, hope the original composer identified as "ooo6" gets his wish and his youtube video reaches Koji Kondo (近藤 浩治).
